It's about time Jason got a vacation... Poor Jason. All dressed up at the bottom of Crystal Lake, and nowhere to go. That all changes when a passing boat's anchor hits an underwater power cable, electrifying Jason back to life. He then hitches a ride aboard a cruise ship filled with high school students headed for New York City.
Rennie (Jensen Daggett), a girl on the cruise ship, has always been afraid of the water. Her fright intensifies when she begins having visions of a young boy drowning in a lake. As passengers around her start disappearing, she cannot help but believe the rumors on the ship: Jason is alive and well, and ready to take Manhattan.
There were a few things wrong with this movie that forced me to give it a low rating. While the title makes you believe that the entire movie takes place in Manhattan, it doesn't. Jason does not set foot in New York until the movie has been on for over an hour! Most of the action takes place on board the ship. I thought that Jason would be running amok in "The Big Apple" like King Kong or something. I was sadly mistaken. Secondly, Jason now somehow has the power to be anywhere he wants to be. For example, a guy is running from Jason on the ship's deck, and begins to climb a pole to escape. The guy has quite a head start, as Jason is still seen on the ground. But suddenly, Jason is right below him on the pole! What? I don't understand? He was never able to do that in any of the other Friday the 13th movies. Thirdly, the ending is confusing. I still can't figure it out. Is Jason dead again? Judge for yourself.
There are a few good points in the movie. The murders are creative, and the acting is believable. It is worth watching, just don't expect alot.
